This Level 1 accredited qualification is designed to prepare learners for further learning and training, whilst developing an understanding of the teaching and learning environment in a school setting, how to support the well-being of a child or young person and child, and young person development.
The qualification is aimed at a range of learners who are thinking of working in a school setting. This course is ideal for anyone wishing to progress onto teaching assistant training.
Learners do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification.
• This is a Fast Track course, you will aim to complete the course within 8 weeks via Moodle, our online learning environment.
• You will work on your own time but you must be able to commit to at least 3 hours’ study per week.
• A subject specialist tutor will provide ongoing support throughout the course and you may be invited to join in a live online classrooms using Zoom to further support you work.
• You will need to be able to access the internet on a device with speakers or earphones.
• Some of the course content will also be accessed via our online learning site ‘Moodle’.
• Once you have enrolled onto the course you will be sent further information from your course tutor on how to get started.
• Your tutor will be on hand throughout the course to offer you support, feedback and guidance.
For all accredited courses, a fee will apply if you do not meet the eligibility criteria. The fee for this course is set at £95.
Fee remission is based on:
Being in receipt of jobseekers allowance; Employment and Support allowance; Universal Credit; Another state benefit (conditions apply); Studying for your first full Level 2 qualification on an eligible course; Aged 19-23 and studying for your first full time Level 3 qualification on an eligible course.
Fee remission may also apply for those in employment with a gross annual income of less than £17,000.

This course usually runs for 12 weeks for 2.5 - 3 hours each week. All 3 units need to be completed to achieve the award. It is important that you attend regularly to be able to achieve the qualification successfully. The first session is 'Welcome Week' during which you will have the opportunity to find out about the course and discuss what you hope to learn.
