Please note that the College is only able to offer this course at the rates publicised on this website to those individuals aged 19+ or over on 31st August 2025 whose home address is in areas of England outside of the devolved authority areas of: Cambridge and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool City Region, Tees Valley, West Midlands and West of England. Where an individual resides outside of England or in one of the devolved areas then the College reserves the right to charge you for the delivery of the course at a rate of £11.75 per hour. This online course will provide Learners with a focus on the study of the basic principles of health and safety, including hazards and risks within the workplace.

2. Know how to raise awareness of the potential hazards and risks in the workplace
3. Understand implications of poor health and safety
4. Know key rights and responsibilities relating to health and safety.

Entry Requirements

In order to attend the course, learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above. Learners will also need a basic level of IT skills to be able to access the course and follow online instructions. If training or support is needed please enquire about our free ICT courses.
Learners will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet device with access to the internet.
All devices should have a camera, sound and a microphone so they are able to interact with their tutor during the course.
Communications will take place over a range of methods:
• Email

• Text Message
• Microsoft teams for face to face

How Your Course Will Be Assessed

Learners complete via the online platform over a set period of time from enrolment. Learners will be given access to Moodle (VLE – Virtual Learning Environment) assess for learning materials so activities and assessment can be completed to show knowledge and understanding.

During the course they will be learning in a variety of ways:
• Presentation with voice over.
• Case studies
• Questioning via multiple choice and short questions.
• Additional resources and links to useful websites.

• You will be able to view progress bars which change colour as progression is made through the units.
• Learners will receive feedback in order to further develop their knowledge
• Learners will assess their knowledge at the start of the course and again at the end against the learning outcomes. This allows them to identify how much they have learnt and where they might need to do further study or research.
• Learners will also be supported to set an individual target(s) for the course based on personal goals and aspirations.

Learners will be completing an introduction section to the course in preparation for learning.
Self-Assessments to assess own knowledge at the start and on completion.

The online application and enrolment process is really simple, once you have clicked the “APPLY" or "ENROL” button you will be redirected to the portal where you either log in or create an account (if you haven’t done so previously). We will then ask you to give us a couple of bits of information like address, mobile phone number ect and that’s it.
Once your applications has been made the next step will be for you to book yourself onto one of our interview evenings, depending on availability you might be able to do this straight away but otherwise we will get in contact to arrange when you come in for an interview.
At any point you can log back into the portal throughout the year, update information like your predicted GCSE grades, update contact and consent information and keep a live track of your application.
