You should be aiming for at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above in a range of subjects, preferably including English Language and Mathematics OR successful completion of a Level 2 Apprenticeship.

These requirements may alter dependent upon the needs of the employer. If you don’t quite achieve the entry criteria though don’t worry, we can discuss your options.

If you have not achieved a Grade 4 in English Language and/or mathematics you will be required to achieve a Level 2 Functional Skills in English and/or Maths as part of your Apprenticeship.

Overview of Course

As a Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprentice, you will help registered practitioners deliver healthcare services to people. As an experienced support worker, you will learn all the skills and knowledge needed to carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare or therapeutic tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner. You will be fully equipped to provide high quality, compassionate healthcare, following standards, policies or protocols and always acting within the limits of your competence.

What you will learn

• How to carry out routine and complex clinical or therapeutic tasks delegated to you.
• The indicators for good physical and mental health in relation to the demographic of individuals you are working with. The importance of fluids, nutrition and food safety.
• Ways to signpost individuals to public health interventions or other services if appropriate.
• How to support a person’s comfort and wellbeing and the signs of a person whose health and wellbeing is deteriorating or who is experiencing pain or discomfort.
• Legislation, policies and local ways of working about duty of care, candour, raising concerns, safeguarding/ protection from abuse, diversity, equality and inclusion.

How Your Course Will Be Assessed

• A range of assessment methods are used throughout the programme to ensure apprentices are ready to enter the workplace. These include progress meetings, assignments, practical observations in the workplace, portfolio completion and an externally validated end point assessment.
• Dedicated health and social care training suite.
• You will need to meet the 15 standards as set out in the Care Certificate, ensuring you are fully supported, skilled and competent within your apprenticeship and future roles.

This course has now started and we can no longer accept applications online.

The online application and enrolment process is really simple, once you have clicked the “APPLY" or "ENROL” button you will be redirected to the portal where you either log in or create an account (if you haven’t done so previously). We will then ask you to give us a couple of bits of information like address, mobile phone number ect and that’s it.

Once your applications has been made the next step will be for you to book yourself onto one of our interview evenings, depending on availability you might be able to do this straight away but otherwise we will get in contact to arrange when you come in for an interview.

At any point you can log back into the portal throughout the year, update information like your predicted GCSE grades, update contact and consent information and keep a live track of your application.
