The Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship prepares you to take on greater responsibility within the health and social care sector, combining frontline care with leadership skills. As a Lead Adult Care Worker, you will not only support adults with a wide range of needs to live independently, safely, and with dignity, but you will also take on responsibility for supervision, guidance, and direction of others in the workplace.

This apprenticeship develops the skills and confidence to provide leadership at the frontline of care delivery, ensuring high standards of practice and promoting the wellbeing of those receiving support. You will learn to work autonomously, using judgement and accountability to make decisions, while also inspiring colleagues to provide compassionate, person-centred care.

By completion, you will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to be instrumental in improving the health and wellbeing of those you care for, while advancing your career into supervisory and leadership roles.
• How to create and develop a care plan based on the person’s preferences in the way they want to be supported.
• How to ensure that dignity is at the centre of all work with individuals and their support circles.
• How to monitor, plan, review a care plan in response to changing physical, social, and emotional needs of individuals.
• What the ‘Duty of Care’ is in practice.
• The national and local strategies for safeguarding and protection from abuse.
The apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of on-the-job learning in a health and social care setting and off-the-job training at college. In the workplace, you will build practical experience supporting adults with complex needs while also developing your skills in supervision and leadership. At college, you will take part in structured workshops, tutorials, and group sessions in our dedicated Health and Social Care training suite.

Learning is supported by access to our recently renovated, modern campus, designed to reflect real-world care environments. Regular mentoring, workplace visits, and reviews ensure you are supported throughout your learning journey.
You should be aiming for at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above in a range of subjects, preferably including English Language and Mathematics OR successful completion of a Level 2 Apprenticeship.

These requirements may alter dependent upon the needs of the employer. If you don’t quite achieve the entry criteria though don’t worry, we can discuss your options.

If you have not achieved a Grade 4 in English Language and/or mathematics you will be required to achieve a Level 2 Functional Skills in English and/or Maths as part of your Apprenticeship.
Practical workplace observations to demonstrate care and supervisory skills

Written assignments and knowledge tests to evidence understanding

Portfolio completion to showcase your progress and achievements

Regular progress meetings and reviews with your employer and Trainer Assessor

End Point Assessment (EPA) – externally validated, and including a professional discussion, knowledge test, and workplace observation
Industry expert Assessors provide continuous support, ensuring you develop confidence and competence throughout the programme.

We work with a wide range of excellent employers across the health and social care sector, creating strong opportunities for apprenticeships and employment.

The apprenticeship has been co-created with employers, making it highly relevant to the needs of the industry and reflective of best practice.

You will complete and evidence the 15 standards of the Care Certificate, ensuring you are fully supported, skilled, and competent both during your apprenticeship and in your future roles.

Completing the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship opens the door to a range of rewarding supervisory and specialist roles within health and social care. Typical positions include Care Supervisor, Senior Care Worker, Senior Support Worker, or Social Services Officer, where you will take responsibility for leading and guiding others in providing high-quality care.

With experience, you could move into community-focused positions such as Outreach Development Worker, Community Outreach Worker, Community Development Worker, or Family Support Worker, supporting individuals and families within local communities.

This apprenticeship also provides a strong foundation for progression into higher-level apprenticeships or qualifications in health and social care leadership.
As a Lead Adult Care Worker apprentice, you will benefit from access to our dedicated Health and Social Care training suite, designed to replicate real care environments. Here, you can develop and practise practical skills in a safe, supportive setting before applying them in the workplace.

You will also study at our recently renovated, modern campus, which includes specialist classrooms equipped with interactive learning technology, collaborative spaces for group learning, and access to the Learning Resource Centre. This combination of hands-on training and academic resources ensures you are fully prepared to succeed in both study and employment.
