A Level Chemistry teachers deliver lessons flexibly, combining classroom learning with hands-on experiments through 12 Practical Activity Groups (PAGs). Supported by tailored guides and activities, this approach builds both your practical skills and theoretical understanding.
3 GCSE passes at Grade 4 and 2 at a Grade 5 which must include English Language at Grade 4 and Maths (Higher) at Grade 5. GCSE Combined Science (Higher) at Grade 5, 5 OR Grade 5 in Chemistry and Grade 5 in one other Science (Triple Science GCSE) is also required.
A Level Chemistry is assessed through three exams at the end of the course. Papers 1 and 2 focus on different areas of chemistry, while Paper 3 tests practical skills, data analysis, and content from across the course. You’ll also complete a Practical Endorsement, which is reported separately and based on your performance in key practical experiments. While there’s no coursework, hands on practical work is a vital part of the course. Your final grade is determined by your exam results, making it a great choice if you enjoy problem solving and applying your knowledge to real world scientific challenges.
A Level Chemistry can open doors to a variety of exciting careers, both in science and beyond! It's an essential qualification if you're considering medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, or pharmacy, but it also provides a fantastic pathway into areas such as chemical engineering, forensics, environmental science, and cutting edge research.

The skills you'll gain are not only technical but also highly transferable and valuable. You'll build real strengths in analytical thinking, problem solving, and logical reasoning, as well as developing precision and resilience – all qualities that employers absolutely love and greatly value. These brilliant abilities make you highly employable in sectors outside science too, including finance, law, teaching, and management, where attention to detail and clear thinking are vital.

Studying Chemistry also prepares you brilliantly for a wide range of respected university courses, keeping many exciting options open for your future! If you want a subject that challenges you whilst creating endless opportunities, Chemistry is a choice that'll set you up for success
