Where an individual resides outside of England or in one of the devolved areas then the College reserves the right to charge you for the delivery of the course at a rate of £10.25 per hour. The T Level is a ground-breaking new two-year Level 3 study programme that will offer students a mixture of classroom-based learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience.

A Vocational alternative to A Levels and Apprenticeships, the T Level has been launched as part of the Government’s review of Vocational education, under the Skills Plan. They have been collaboratively developed by the Department for Education (DfE), the Institute for Apprenticeships (IfA), education providers and employers.

Nelson and Colne College is in the privileged position to be one of only few colleges to offer the T Level, which is going to be the new gold standard qualification in technical education, and be the pinnacle for those who
are more practical. The T Level includes a core of knowledge and skills needed to work in the sector, a technical qualification, a substantial work placement of at least 315 hours over two years, as well as English, Mathematics and digital content.

In Year 1 you will study the core content of the Healthcare Science T Level and gain a comprehensive overview of key concepts required to work in the sector.

Healthcare science is a rapidly expanding area of the NHS, and a T level in this area will give you a wide range of future opportunities. This qualification will give you the scientific and healthcare knowledge, and the technical skills required for you to build a rewarding career. The T level Industry Placement gives you an in-depth experience of working within the Healthcare sector.

The knowledge and skills you will learn include:

· Good scientific and clinical practice

· Infection prevention and control
· Human anatomy and physiology

5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including Mathematics, English and Dual Science, or a Level 2 equivalent in this area and GCSE Mathematics and English at grade 4 or above.

Employment: in a healthcare setting, a laboratory, or within the NHS.

Higher Level Apprenticeship: Healthcare, Pharmacy Technician, Dental Nurse, Optical Assistant and many others. Your extensive industry placement will give you an advantage for this!

University: Degree courses including Nursing, ODP, Orthoptics, Biomedical Science, Audiology, radiography and many others.

The online application and enrolment process is really simple, once you have clicked the “APPLY" or "ENROL” button you will be redirected to the portal where you either log in or create an account (if you haven’t done so previously). We will then ask you to give us a couple of bits of information like address, mobile phone number ect and that’s it.
Once your applications has been made the next step will be for you to book yourself onto one of our interview evenings, depending on availability you might be able to do this straight away but otherwise we will get in contact to arrange when you come in for an interview.
At any point you can log back into the portal throughout the year, update information like your predicted GCSE grades, update contact and consent information and keep a live track of your application.
