National Men's Health week starts on the 10th of June. Come along to our informal online session to find out more about nutrition and exercise and managing the mental health of you or the men in your life.

1. List some of the key issues that can impact on men’s mental health
2. Recognise issues and barriers relating to male cancers
3. Select appropriate pathways for treatment and support
4. Identify the importance of an active lifestyle and promote opportunities to embed this into daily life
5. Select appropriate progression onto further learning opportunities

Entry Requirements

In order to attend the course, learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above. Learners will also need a basic level of IT skills to be able to access the course and follow online instructions. If training or support is needed, please enquire about our free ICT courses.

Learners will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet device with access to the internet. All devices should have a camera, sound and a microphone so they are able to interact with their teacher and peers during the course.

The course will be delivered online using Microsoft Teams and learners will be sent the join details and links prior to the course. This online platform can be accessed via an app on a smart phone, tablet or iPad or alternatively via the website: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/group-chat-software

All learners will need to enrol online prior to any course starting through the colleges online enrolment portal: https://enrol.lal.ac.uk/

Online courses require a minimum of 5 learners and a maximum of 8 in order to be viable.

How Your Course Will Be Assessed

Learners attend via the online platform Microsoft Teams on a set day and time. The sessions will be delivered live and learners will be supported to work through the course content. In addition to this, learners will be given access to Moodle (VLE – Virtual Learning Environment) so activities can be completed during and after the session to record progress and achievement.

• The teacher will use a range of activities to review learner’s knowledge throughout the course and identify any gaps and additional information required
• Learners will receive feedback in order to further develop their knowledge
• Learners will assess their knowledge at the start of the course and again at the end against the learning outcomes. This allows you to identify how much you have learnt and where you might need to do further study or research.
• Learners will also be supported to set an individual target(s) for the course based on personal goals and aspirations.

Learners will be submitting work via Moodle (Virtual Learning Platform) wherever possible. The completion of a learning mats is another option for those learners who may have difficulty accessing Moodle. These resources can be emailed by the teacher prior to the course or session.

The course is 2 hours per session and is delivered over two individual sessions or weeks.

So the course can start on time, it’s important to be ready to join your online course 15 minutes prior to the official start time.

The online application and enrolment process is really simple, once you have clicked the “APPLY" or "ENROL” button you will be redirected to the portal where you either log in or create an account (if you haven’t done so previously). We will then ask you to give us a couple of bits of information like address, mobile phone number ect and that’s it.
Once your applications has been made the next step will be for you to book yourself onto one of our interview evenings, depending on availability you might be able to do this straight away but otherwise we will get in contact to arrange when you come in for an interview.
At any point you can log back into the portal throughout the year, update information like your predicted GCSE grades, update contact and consent information and keep a live track of your application.
