Overview of Course

During the in person IAG session at Accrington, you will meet College staff who will provide all the information you need to decide about the Railway Maintenance training opportunity we offer and the type of work available in the industry. This will be a good opportunity for you to check if the Rail Industry is an environment you want to work in and whether you can commit to the training schedule.

We will ensure that you are suitable for the programme, are able to access funding and you will undertake an English assessment whilst here to ensure you are prepared for the demands of the NVQ Level 2 course.

We will cover ID requirements and information regarding the Drug and Alcohol Medical screening that takes place on the programme.

Group conversation with College staff about eligibility and expectations. Q & A session to ensure this is the right course for you. The full-time Level 2 course will begin on Tuesday the 2nd of April 2024 and is split between Brierfield and Accrington.

If successful during the IAG session, you will be invited to start the full-time NVQ Level 2 Railway Maintenance Programme. This usually starts with 1 or 2 weeks, following the IAG session.

Additional information

Any unspent convictions or ongoing investigations must be declared at the welcome and enrolment stage and the online declaration form must be completed and approved by our Safeguarding Team before attending and IAG session or College site. Failure to disclose may result in your place being withdrawn.

The online application and enrolment process is really simple, once you have clicked the “APPLY" or "ENROL” button you will be redirected to the portal where you either log in or create an account (if you haven’t done so previously). We will then ask you to give us a couple of bits of information like address, mobile phone number ect and that’s it.
Once your applications has been made the next step will be for you to book yourself onto one of our interview evenings, depending on availability you might be able to do this straight away but otherwise we will get in contact to arrange when you come in for an interview.
At any point you can log back into the portal throughout the year, update information like your predicted GCSE grades, update contact and consent information and keep a live track of your application.
