Entry Requirements

This course is suitable for most ages and abilities; including beginners to intermediate.

You will complete an initial assessment to help your tutor to understand your current level of knowledge on the subject, this will be in written format at the start of the session.

In order to attend the course, learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above. If the course is delivered online learners will also need a basic level of IT skills to be able to access the course and follow online instructions. If training or support is needed, please enquire about our free ICT courses.

The course will be delivered in a classroom setting learners will need to wear comfortable clothing to move in and may be invited to access links via a smartphone (not compulsory)
All learners will need to complete an enrolment form at the start of the session.

Online courses require a minimum of 5 learners and a maximum of 10 in order to be viable.

If the course is delivered online all Learners will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet device with access to the internet. All devices should have a camera, sound and a microphone so they are able to interact with their teacher and peers during the course.
The course will be delivered online using Microsoft Teams and learners will be sent the join details and links prior to the course. Both of these online platforms can be accessed via an app on a smart phone, tablet or iPad or alternatively via the relevant website: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/group-chat-software

Learners attend the live classroom session in the venue and time allocated. The session will be delivered live and learners will be supported to work through the session content. There will be practical participation elements and group/individual discussions/reflections. There is also a written element to the sessions to capture learning.

• The teacher will use a range of activities to review learner’s knowledge during the session and identify any gaps and additional information required
• Learners will receive feedback in order to further develop their knowledge
• Using MS forms/learning mats/or booklets there is an opportunity for you to assess your knowledge at the start of the session and again at the end against the content. This allows you to identify how much you have learnt and where you might need to do further study or research.
• You will also be supported to set an individual target for the course based on your personal goals and aspirations.

Learners will be completing MS forms and/or handouts. These resources can be emailed by the teacher prior to the course or session.
You will be asked to complete:
• Learning mats / MS forms to document your learning during the course.

Learners may want to make notes on paper or a notepad, but a learning mat is available.

So the course can start on time, it’s important to arrive at the course 15 minutes prior to the official start time.

The online application and enrolment process is really simple, once you have clicked the “APPLY" or "ENROL” button you will be redirected to the portal where you either log in or create an account (if you haven’t done so previously). We will then ask you to give us a couple of bits of information like address, mobile phone number ect and that’s it.
Once your applications has been made the next step will be for you to book yourself onto one of our interview evenings, depending on availability you might be able to do this straight away but otherwise we will get in contact to arrange when you come in for an interview.
At any point you can log back into the portal throughout the year, update information like your predicted GCSE grades, update contact and consent information and keep a live track of your application.
