Course Information
The aim of this short session is to introduce you to the 'Advancing your career prospects' programme, which has been developed in partnership with the five NHS Trusts across Lancashire and South Cumbria to promote careers within the NHS. This 2-hour session will provide you with the programme content, additional information and the option to enrol onto the 3-week programme.
The 2 hour Teams call is used as a group information session to introduce you to the actual 3-week programme
Over the course of the 3-week programme, learners will attend a series of online sessions (via MS Teams) to develop knowledge and skills in the following areas:

Introduction to Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB)
Expectations
Exploring job descriptions and mapping current skills
Aligning transferable skills and qualities to a person specification
Introduction to the application process
Maximising opportunities to demonstrate your skills and behaviours
Best practice application completion
Introduction to Interview Skills
Preparation for the interview
Interview questions and modelling your responses
Effective communication and active listening skills
Creating the right impression
Learners will receive feedback to further develop their knowledge

Learners will assess their knowledge at the start of the course and their progress against the outcomes. This allows them to identify how much they have learnt and where they might need further study or research.

Learners will also be supported to set an individual target(s) for the course based on starting points, personal goals and career aspirations.
Course Work
No course work is expected to be completed during this 2-hour group information session.
The programme is delivered online via Microsoft Teams/Zoom, all participants will need to be able to access the internet using a device such as a tablet, laptop or PC. In order to attend the course, learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Level 1 and above. Learners would also benefit for a basic level of IT skills to be able to access resources and research activities.

Learners will be expected to attend all planned sessions.
Learners to attend all sessions and engage in learning activities to support the learning outcomes. Learning will be structured towards completing both individual and group activities to increase knowledge and understanding which will be assessed using a range of methods. Learners will be required to complete work outside of sessions to support their development of employability skills
The programme is over a 3-week period. 2 hours per day, 2 days per week for 3 weeks. All sessions will be delivered online.

As part of the programme, you will meet with staff from LSCFT to find more about working for the NHS, across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

We will support you in your application submissions and the preparation for the interview process.
Following completion of this course the following progression option(s) are available:

Progression towards employment within the NHS

In some circumstances, this funding allows us to offer courses at a reduced cost to learners who meet certain eligibility criteria. Below are the standard course fees for Lancashire residents and, where applicable, the reduced fees available to eligible learners.

To qualify for reduced fees, you may be required to complete a fee assessment and provide evidence to support your eligibility.

Text Value

The standard fee for anyone living outside of the LCCA funded area (e.g. if your home address is in the Greater Manchester devolved funded area) is charged at £12.10 per hour, but may be higher for some courses.
