Course Information

Course Information
Materialism teaches us that the more things we have, the happier we will be; however, we often end up feeling frustrated and struggling with ‘decision fatigue’ trying to manage it all.
This course will teach learners how to escape the ‘mess stress’ by simplifying their online and offline life. Learners will discover why we end up with so much and don’t know how to manage it, alongside some of the barriers to simplify and strategies to get you moving towards a more stress-free life.
The course is 5 hours in duration and is delivered over two individual sessions or weeks.
You will:
Learn about the wellbeing benefits from simplifying your life
Explore how to identify blocks to becoming clutter-free and organised, choosing appropriate solutions
Participate in activities that move you towards your simplification goals
Create a maintenance and improvement action plan
Plan learning progression onto appropriate next steps
The course will be delivered either at one of our community venues, or online. Please check details when enrolling.

The community venue will be in a location, where you can meet people face to face and learn together in a suitably equipped classroom setting.

Learning activities include:

• Active listening and reflective discussion

• Participation in practical activities during and between sessions

• Personal reflection and note taking

• Completion of learning activities

• Links to recommended websites and apps will be given to aid independent learning

This course is very practical and interactive. For the online version, it will require you to take part in activities within your home that will enable you to progress and receive feedback and encouragement.

The face-to-face course will use simulated activities to learn simplification and organisational skills.
Learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above.
Learners will also need a basic level of IT skills to be able to access recommended resources.
If joining online, learners will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet device with access to the internet, a camera, sound and microphone.
The teacher will use a range of activities to review learner’s knowledge throughout the course and identify any gaps and additional information required

· Learners will receive feedback in order to further develop their knowledge

· Learners will assess their knowledge at the start of the course and again at the end against the learning outcomes. This allows you to identify how much you have learnt and where you might need to do further study or research.

· Learners will also be supported to set an individual target(s) for the course based on personal goals and aspirations.

· Discussion and sharing of your ideas and opinions is encouraged to support and develop one another’s learning journey
You will be asked to complete a record of your learning to consolidate your new knowledge.

This will be done either by hard copy or online (MS Forms). There will also be some worksheets (face to face) and other written exercises. Please ensure that you have a pen and paper/notebook with you.

When attending online, so the course can start on time, it’s important to be ready to join your course 5 prior to the official start time.

The Additional Learning Support Team work across college supporting students with a variety of learning needs in different ways. Support can be requested at enrolment or at any point throughout your course, please speak to your course teacher.
