Your week will be a fantastic mix of practical salon sessions and theory lessons in a classroom setting. The theory part is essential for understanding the 'why' behind the techniques, covering everything from hair science to client psychology. We also integrate online learning resources, allowing you to study flexibly and revisit topics whenever you need to. Furthermore, you will complete a work placement in a commercial salon, giving you invaluable experience and a chance to build your professional network. 5 GCSE passes at a minimum of Grade 4, which must include a Grade 3 and 4 in English Language and Maths, in either combination.
We’ve designed our assessment process to be supportive and empowering, helping you to showcase your amazing talents! Your progress will be tracked throughout the course, so you always know how well you’re doing. The main way we assess your skills is through practical observations. During your sessions in our training salons, our expert tutors will watch you work on clients, providing continuous feedback and guidance. This isn't a scary test; it's a chance for you to demonstrate your creative cutting, colouring, and styling skills in a real-world environment. We’re here to cheer you on!
Alongside practical assessments, you will build a fantastic portfolio of your work. This will be a collection of photographs and evidence showcasing the incredible styles you’ve created. Think of it as your professional lookbook to show future employers! You will also complete some written assignments and online tests to check your understanding of the theory behind the practice. The course culminates in a final practical assessment, known as an End-Point Assessment (EPA), where you will demonstrate your skills and knowledge to an independent assessor.
