Get ready to dive into the exciting world of painting and decorating! We've designed this course to give you a brilliant, all-around introduction to the trade. You will learn how to prepare surfaces properly – because a great finish starts with great prep! This includes everything from stripping old paint and wallpaper to filling and sanding surfaces until they are perfectly smooth. We’ll teach you different painting techniques using brushes and rollers, helping you achieve a professional and even coat every single time. You’ll also get to grips with applying wallpaper, learning how to measure, cut, and hang it without any bubbles or creases. Plus, we’ll cover essential health and safety practices to ensure you can work safely and confidently on any site. You’ll also explore how to erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms. We’re here to help you master these skills and feel proud of the work you create!
We know that you learn best by doing, so this course is all about practical, hands-on experience! You'll spend most of your time in our purpose-built, modern workshops that are set up just like a real work environment. Here, you will work on your own projects, putting theory into practice with the full support of our expert tutors. They will guide you through each task, giving you personal feedback and encouragement to help you build your skills and confidence. We combine this practical work with some classroom sessions. In these sessions, we’ll cover the important theory behind the techniques you’re learning, as well as essential topics like health and safety and customer service. 2 GCSE passes at a minimum of Grade 3, which must include a Grade 2 and 3 in English Language and Maths, in either combination.
