Course Information
The Level 1 Certificate in Engineering Technologies is a one-year introductory course for students who want to explore engineering for the first time.

It’s perfect if you’re unsure which engineering pathway to choose and want to gain hands-on experience, practical skills and confidence before moving on to higher-level courses.
You’ll gain a basic understanding of engineering through practical, engaging lessons that introduce key engineering skills and knowledge, including:

• Working Safely in Engineering
• Basic Electronics
• Maths and Science for Engineering
• Computer Aided Drawing (CAD)
• Engineering Project Planning

You’ll also develop important skills such as teamwork, communication, time management and problem-solving.
• Duration: 1 year
• Study Mode: Full-time

2 GCSE passes at a minimum of Grade 3, which must include a Grade 2 and 3 in English Language and Maths, in either combination.
Assessment is ongoing and includes:

• Practical assessments
• Short written and theory assessments
• Controlled assessments set by the awarding body

All work is marked by your tutors and quality-checked internally and externally.
This course helps you explore a wide range of engineering careers, including:
• Mechanical Fitter
• Maintenance Engineer
• Manufacturing Engineer
• Electrical or Electronics Engineer
• Sheet Metal Worker
• CNC Operator

Progression Opportunities

After completing this course, you can progress to:
• Level 2 Engineering (Performing Engineering Operations)
• Apprenticeships in engineering and manufacturing
