The Civil Engineering market is expanding, driven by a growth in population this has created a need for new infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, railroads, airports, and ports. The fast growth of urban centers has increased the need for commercial development projects too. If you wish to work in the construction sector with a focus on Civil Engineering, then this T Level is for you.
The Civil Engineering T Level is your chance to step into the fast-paced world of construction and the built environment. With a 45-day industry placement, you’ll work alongside professionals, gaining the experience and skills needed to bring projects to life.
The Civil Engineering T Level is your pathway into the dynamic construction industry, where creativity meets technology and practical skills.
On this T Level course, you will learn about topics such as health and safety, science, measurement, building technology, information and data.
You will explore digital technology, mathematical techniques for construction and investigate the design process, construction and the built environment industry.
Sustainability plays a key role and you will also study relationship management and commercial business along with project management and law.
The course isn’t just classroom-based. A 45-day industry placement gives you the chance to work with a real employer, gain hands-on experience, and apply your learning to live projects. You’ll work with cutting-edge tools and software used in the sector, preparing you to enter the workforce with confidence.

By the end of the T Level, you’ll have the knowledge, skills, and professional experience to move directly into employment, an apprenticeship, or further study at university. If you want a career that shapes the spaces and communities of the future, this course is the perfect foundation.
This T Level is delivered through classroom lessons, practical workshops, and a substantial industry placement. You will combine theory with practice and develop hands-on skills useful for the civil engineering industry. A 45-day industry placement with an employer gives you real-world experience of working in the construction and civil engineering industry, helping you build the professional skills and confidence employers are looking for.
5 GCSE passes at a minimum of Grade 4, which must include English Language and Maths at Grade 4.
Assessment for this course combines external exams, employer-set projects, and practical tasks. Core construction and civil engineering knowledge is tested through written exams for example in health and safety. You’ll also complete an employer-set project, applying your skills to real-world construction and civil engineering scenarios. Specialist modules are assessed through assignments and practical work. Together, these assessments ensure you are fully prepared for employment, apprenticeships, or progression to university-level study.
Construction is one of the UK’s largest and most diverse sectors, offering endless opportunities. This T Level provides the skills, industry experience, and confidence to succeed.
After successfully completing your T Level, you can progress onto courses such as Higher National Certificates, Diplomas and Top-up degrees in: Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Surveying, Building Services Engineering, Construction Design and Architecture. This course can open the doors to roles such as a Geospatial Engineer, Civil Engineering Technician, Project Manager, Structural Engineer, and Design Engineer.
Students studying engineering based subjects at our College have progressed onto university to study a wide range of courses, including Engineering, Robotics and Architecture to name a few, or into careers with a variety of companies, including Rolls Royce, BAE Systems, Safran, and Merc Aerospace.
