Course Information
It is estimated that approximately 16 million adults have issues with sleep in the UK, therefore, this is an issue that affects so many of us. This short course aims to give an overview of common sleep problems, as well as providing techniques to try and aid a better night’s sleep.
This short course is wellbeing focused and uses reputable information sources, such as the British Sleep Charity. By the end of the session, learners will be able to:

- Explore information about sleep and discover why it is important for our wellbeing
- Establish what techniques they can implement into their nightly routine, to improve sleep habits
- Choose appropriate progression opportunities
The course will be delivered live, and learners will be supported to work through the course content.

Other activities include:
- Active listening and reflective discussion  
- Participation in practical activities during and between sessions
- Personal reflection and note taking
- Completion of learning activities
- Links to recommended websites and apps will be given to aid independent learning 
In order to attend the course, learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above. Learners will also need a basic level of IT skills to be able to access recommended resources. If training or support is needed, please enquire about our free ICT courses.

If joining online, learners will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet device with access to the internet. All devices should have a camera, sound and a microphone so they are able to interact with their teacher and peers during the course. The course will be delivered online using Zoom or Microsoft Teams and learners will be sent the join details and links prior to the course. Both of these online platforms can be accessed via an app on a smart phone, tablet or iPad or alternatively via the relevant website.
You will be asked to complete:
- Learning activities
- A Destination Survey and Student Satisfaction form.
When attending online, so the course can start on time, it’s important to be ready to join your course 5 minutes prior to the official start time. The Additional Learning Support Team work across college supporting students with a variety of learning needs in different ways. Support can be requested at enrolment or at any point throughout your course, please speak to your course teacher. Please note, all the teachers are knowledgeable about health and wellbeing but are not GP’s or medically trained. If you have a specific health condition, please speak to your GP in the first instance.
This course has been designed as a one off, however there are many more courses available with Lancashire Adult Learning, all of which can be found within this website.
