The FdA Sustainable Business Management is designed for those who want to develop strong business and management skills while responding to the growing demand for sustainability in today’s economy. The programme combines core business knowledge with specialist insights into environmental responsibility, corporate ethics, and sustainable development, preparing you to thrive in a fast-changing business world.You will study essential areas such as finance, marketing, leadership, operations, and organisational behaviour, alongside modules exploring sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and environmental management. The course is practical and applied, encouraging you to link theory to real-world business challenges and make informed decisions that create positive change.Through small, supportive classes and strong industry connections, you will gain the confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills needed to drive forward sustainable practices in any sector. This degree also provides a clear pathway to further study or direct progression into management and sustainability-focused careers.

Candidates are selected based on their ability to cope with and benefit from the programme. Their suitability can be demonstrated either through previous educational achievement or through experience and aptitude.

Admission by prior qualification will normally require a minimum 32 UCAS Tariff points with the majority of the points gained in engineering, mathematics or science subjects. Typically, points can be derived from:
One GCE A level or Vocational A level pass or equivalent
Two AS level passes
BTEC National Diploma/Certificate
Other qualifications such as Scottish Highers, Welsh Baccalaureate, Irish Leaving Certificates, International Baccalaureate, with the required UCAS points
A pass in a recognised Access course
Equivalent Scottish or Irish qualifications

GCSE Maths and English grade C or above, or equivalent are required to support future career progression.

Admission by experience and aptitude will be based on the length and type of the candidate’s employment experience and their ability to demonstrate an aptitude and enthusiasm for the subject. As part of this process, candidates may be required to undertake aptitude tests and/or to provide personal and/or employment references.

The FdA Sustainable Business Management equips you with the skills to succeed in a wide range of business and sustainability-related careers. Graduates are well-placed for roles such as Business Development Officer, Sustainability Coordinator, Project Manager, CSR Advisor, or Operations Supervisor across industries from retail and finance to public services and manufacturing.

Many graduates progress onto further degree study, creating pathways into more senior positions such as Sustainability Manager, Business Consultant, or Corporate Responsibility Lead. This degree also provides a strong foundation for postgraduate study in business or environmental management.
