Course Information
The FdA Teaching and Learning Support is designed for those passionate about making a difference in education by supporting children and young people to achieve their potential. Whether you are already working in a classroom setting or looking to build a career in education, this course develops the knowledge, skills, and confidence to progress into a wide range of roles.

You will explore key themes in child development, educational theory, inclusive practice, behaviour management, and safeguarding, while reflecting on the professional values and behaviours needed to work effectively in education. Emphasis is placed on linking theory to practice, ensuring your learning is grounded in real-world classroom experiences.

Work-based learning is integral to the programme, with opportunities to apply your studies through employment or voluntary placements in schools and educational settings. This applied, flexible approach prepares you for progression into senior support roles or further study towards teaching qualifications.

Course Fees - The cost of this full‑time course is £9,525.

This is a full time course, delivered face to face.

Learning is interactive and applied, combining lectures, seminars, workshops, and group discussions with practical tasks that connect directly to your workplace or voluntary role. Small class sizes create a supportive environment where you can develop confidence and share experiences with peers. Tutors bring expertise from education and related fields, providing real-world insight alongside academic knowledge. Work-based learning is at the heart of delivery, ensuring you can immediately apply theory to practice and reflect on your development as an education professional.
Candidates are expected to have successfully completed a relevant qualification at Level 3, such as a BTEC, Diploma or T-Level. Whilst the relevant qualification should map to the chosen pathway, alternative qualifications at the appropriate level will be considered on an individual basis through non-standard entry this may include substantial work experience.

Candidates are normally expected to have achieved at least a grade 4 (or equivalent) in GCSE English and Maths.

"Graduates of this programme are well-prepared for a range of roles in schools and educational settings, including Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), Learning Mentor, Special Educational Needs Support Worker, or Pastoral Support Officer.

The course also provides a strong platform for further study.
