"The BA (Hons) Health and Applied Social Studies (Top-Up) is designed for students who have completed a relevant Level 5 qualification and wish to progress to an Honours degree. This multidisciplinary programme explores the connections between health and the social sciences, giving you the knowledge and critical insight to analyse, evaluate, and influence the issues shaping modern society.

You will engage with a wide range of themes, drawing on disciplines such as sociology, psychology, criminology, social policy, ethics, education studies, and health studies. The course places a strong emphasis on critical enquiry and independent research, giving you opportunities to explore topic areas aligned with your academic and vocational interests. By examining theories, conceptual frameworks, and competing explanations, you will develop a deep understanding of how health and social sciences intersect to inform practice, research, and policy.

Whether your goal is to progress into employment or further study, this degree provides you with the analytical and professional skills to succeed in a wide range of health, social care, and public service contexts.

Blended learning approaches, including access to digital resources, online reading, and research databases, ensure your studies remain flexible, contemporary, and relevant to real-world contexts in health and social sciences.
