Course Information
This course is an introduction to meditation. Meditation has long been regarded as a beneficial technique to help calm the mind and body to improve wellbeing. The practice requires no special equipment and can be done anywhere making it an inclusive skill for all to learn. It is suitable for all ages and abilities; including beginners, intermediate and advanced.
During the course, you will participate in learning activities. By the end of the course you will be able to;

- Describe in brief terms your understanding of meditation
- Define the benefits available from meditation
- List 3 types of meditation
- Participate in a meditation practice
- Reflect on your experience of the session
- Choose appropriate progression onto further learning
Learners attend the live classroom session in the venue and time allocated. The session will be delivered live and learners will be supported to work through the session content. There will be practical participation elements and group/individual discussions/reflections. There is also a written element to the sessions to capture learning.
This course is suitable for most ages and abilities; including beginners to intermediate. You will complete an initial assessment to help your tutor to understand your current level of knowledge on the subject, this will be in written format at the start of the session. In order to attend the course, learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above.

Learners will need to wear comfortable clothing to move in and may be invited to access links via a smartphone (not compulsory)
Learners will be completing MS forms and/or handouts. These resources can be emailed by the teacher prior to the course or session. You will be asked to complete:
- Learning mats / MS forms to document your learning during the course
- Online discussion
- Course hand-outs as appropriate
Learners may want to make notes on paper or a notepad, but a learning mat is available. So the course can start on time, it’s important to arrive at the course 15 minutes prior to the official start time.

The Additional Learning Support Team work across college supporting students with a variety of learning needs in different ways. Support can be requested at enrolment or at any point throughout your course.
