Course Information
This course is an introduction to creative communication, nurturing your wellbeing through words. It is for beginners who want to discover written creativity and how it supports personal growth. You will complete enjoyable writing tasks designed to spark ideas through connecting with others in a relaxed and encouraging environment. Explore what makes writing effective and meaningful, improve knowledge and confidence and gain a love of the written word to nurture your creativity and wellbeing.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:


1. Identify different types of creative writing and how they improve your wellbeing.

2. Participate in creative exercises, connecting with and encouraging other learners.

3. Discuss examples of poor writing, identifying how good writing enhances meaningful expression and communication.

4. Plan the next chapter of your creative writing journey and wellbeing improvement.
The course will be delivered either at one of our community venues, or online. Please check details when enrolling. The community venue will be in a nearby location, where you can meet people face to face and learn together in a suitably equipped classroom setting.
Online courses will be delivered on MS Teams and learners will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet device with access to the internet. All devices should have a camera, sound and a microphone so that learners are able to interact with their teacher and peers during the course. Learners will be sent the join details and links prior to the course.
Activities for the sessions include:
· Active listening and reflective discussion.
· Participation in individual and group/team tasks around creative writing.
· Personal reflection and note taking.
Links to recommended websites and apps will be given to aid independent learning.
How will I know if I am making progress?
· The teacher will use a range of activities to review learner’s knowledge throughout the course and identify any gaps and additional information required
· Learners will receive feedback to further develop their knowledge
· Learners will assess their knowledge at the start of the course and again at the end against the learning outcomes. This allows you to identify how much you have learnt and where you might need to do further study or research.
· Learners will also be supported to set an individual target(s) for the course based on personal goals and aspirations.
In order to attend the course, learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above. You don’t need to have any prior creative writing experience
The teacher will use a range of activities to review learner’s knowledge throughout the course and identify any gaps and additional information required

· Learners will receive feedback to further develop their knowledge

· Learners will assess their knowledge at the start of the course and again at the end against the learning outcomes. This allows you to identify how much you have learnt and where you might need to do further study or research.

· Learners will also be supported to set an individual target(s) for the course based on personal goals and aspirations.
You will be asked to complete worksheets and other written exercises to consolidate your new knowledge. This will be done either by hard copy or online (MS Forms). Please ensure that you have a pen and paper/notebook with you.
Following completion of this course, you can progress to:
· Developing Creative Writing for Wellbeing Lancashire Adult Learning offer a wide range of personal and professional learning courses for adults.
Please arrive for your class at least 10 minutes before the start to get set up, meet your teacher and other learners. If the course is online, this gives you a chance to make sure your device is working properly. The class will start on time and latecomers will miss important induction information. The Additional Learning Support Team work across college supporting students with a variety of learning needs in different ways. Support can be requested at enrolment or at any point throughout your course.
