Course Information
This qualification is designed for learners looking to increase their knowledge and awareness of mental health. It will help the learner to develop their awareness of issues surrounding mental health and to know the rights of those with mental health issues.

These may be learners who wish to access this training with a view to progressing to further qualifications or employment within health and social care, to complement other qualifications within health or health and social care, or to develop in their current job role within health and social care.
During this course learners will find out more about: 

 What is meant by Mental Health and Mental-ill Health

The social and personal effects of Mental-ill Health

The responses to Mental Health issues

Cultural diversity in relation to Mental Health
The course content is designed to take approx. 16 hours (including assessments) to complete.

Learners will be given access to a comprehensive online learning platform (EQUAL) which will provide them with a range of interactive learning resources and activities to support their learning and successful completion of short assessments for each learning outcome. 

 Further self-directed research is encouraged to expand learners’ understanding of key topics.
In order to attend the course, learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above. Learners will also need appropriate IT kit and basic level of IT skills to be able to access the portal, research extra resources and keep in contact with their personal tutor.
Clear deadlines will be provided for each learning outcome to ensure the qualification is completed within the set time frame. 

Completion and progress on each unit is clearly identified on the learner’s online dashboard. 

Learners will receive regular online feedback throughout the course including opportunities for further development. 
You will be completing work in relation to each learning outcome, which a range of activities and questioning to allow you to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding. You will complete this using our online learning platform, EQUAL.
The Additional Learning Support Team work across college supporting students with a variety of learning needs in different ways.  Support can be requested at enrolment or at any point throughout your course.
