There are 13 units in the qualification:
Understanding mental health, stress, anxiety, phobias, depression, post-natal depression, eating disorders, bi-polar disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, schizophrenia and dementia.
The purpose of the course is to highlight what is meant by mental health and mental ill-health, the impact on supporting mental health in the community and social impact this has along with the legal context of mental illness.
Learners will have a greater understanding of the range of mental health conditions, identify possible causes, a range of effects on both individuals, families and the wider community, explore types of behaviour along with managing the conditions. It is likely you may wish to study this alongside the Understand Working with People with Mental Health Needs course to put this learning into context if you are looking to work in this sector.
