Course Information
The purpose of this qualification is to educate people in spotting signs of self-harm and suicide and helping to prevent further harm by encouraging individuals to seek help. The qualification is designed to apply to a range of circumstances, including upskilling individuals with a safeguarding-responsibilities in a range of workplace and community settings.
The course is designed to increase knowledge and encourage conversation in all aspects of society that could prevent individuals hurting themselves or deaths by suicide.
This qualification is designed to reach many individuals to try to combat the rising rate of self-harm and suicide.
There are 4 units in the qualification:

Introduction to suicide and self-harm awareness

Recognising the signs of suicide and self-harm in individuals

The principles of suicide and self-harm prevention

Support for individuals when dealing with grief after suicide
Learners will be given access to a comprehensive online learning platform which will provide them with detailed knowledge and information to support their successful completion of each unit.

Further self-directed research is encouraged to expand learner’s understanding of key topics.
In order to attend the course, learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Level 1 and above. Learners will also need a good level of IT skills to be able to access and navigate the learning platform and keep in contact with their personal tutor.

Learners will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet device with access to the internet. 

The setup of this course enables learners to study independently and flexibly at times convenient to them.

All learners will need to enrol online prior to any course starting through the online enrolment portal.
Clear deadlines will be provided for each unit to ensure the qualification is completed within the set time frame.

Completion and progress on each unit is clearly identified on the learner’s online dashboard.

Learners will receive regular written feedback throughout the course including opportunities for further development.
You will be completing work in relation to each unit, which a range of activities and questioning to allow you to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding. You will complete this online using the online platform.
