This programme is aimed to support learners who work or volunteer in an advice role, in a range of areas from careers guidance or pastoral support in schools or colleges, to supporting clients in areas such as drug or alcohol rehabilitation services; with family or confidence issues and clients who require domestic abuse support. The focus is on determining the Clients requirements and ensuring relevant signposting or referral to other agencies
Unit 1: Information, Advice or Guidance in Practice
Understand the differences between information, advice, and guidance, and how to meet client needs. Learn about boundaries, responsibilities, signposting, referrals, and record-keeping.

Unit 2: Developing Interaction Skills
Develop effective questioning, listening, and non-verbal communication skills. Explore the impact of values, beliefs, and attitudes, alongside the importance of confidentiality and impartiality.

Unit 3: Signposting and Referral
Learn the difference between signposting and referrals, when to use them, and organisational procedures. Understand best practices for recording, monitoring, and evaluating these processes.

Unit 4: Information, Advice or Guidance in Context
Explore IAG in your own practice and for specific client groups. Learn how to assist clients in making choices, address discriminatory practices, and overcome barriers.

Unit 5: Skills for Advice Providers
Understand the purpose and process of advice interviews, including the advisor’s role, interview stages, and maintaining confidentiality. Gain knowledge of social policy and how to negotiate effectively on behalf of clients.
You will be learning online at your own pace via our awarding winning e-learning platform. You set the pace of your own learning and you will have access to our professional accredited teachers also.

You will be given access to a comprehensive online learning platform which will provide them with detailed knowledge and information to support their successful completion of each unit. 

Further self-directed research is encouraged to expand learner’s understanding of key topics. 
English and Maths would be a benefit at Level 2.
Learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Level 1 and above. Learners will also need a good level of IT skills, access to a computer, laptop or tablet device with access to the internet. 
During the course our teachers will be marking and assessing your work as well as giving you positive and developmental feedback to ensure you are making the uppermost progress. You can also request to speak to one of our teachers to check your progress.

Clear deadlines will be provided for each unit to ensure the qualification is completed within the set time frame. 

Completion and progress on each unit is clearly identified on the learner’s online dashboard. 

Learners will receive regular written feedback throughout the course including opportunities for further development. 
You will be expected to complete a series of online assignments which will be set by our teachers. These will be in units to allow you to work through each one in a streamline manner.

You will be completing work in relation to each unit, which a range of activities and questioning to allow you to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding. You will complete this online using the online platform.
