Course Information
In Year 1, phonics will still be taught and most children will be reaching the final phonics phases. Unsure of how to support your child with phonics in Year 1? Then this is the course for you. In this 1 week course, find out more about phonics, discover ways of supporting phonics at home and explore how to make learning phonics fun. You will also explore various creative reading ideas to use at home.

This course is delivered online for 2 hour
This is a practical and interactive course that is meant to be lots of fun whilst learning and developing important phonics and reading skills. Within the course, parents will take part in a range of activities designed to support your child’s phonics development and reading and writing skills.

By the end of the course, parents/carers will be able to:
· Develop an understanding of what phonics is in Year 1
· Create phonics resources to use with children.
· Explore reading activities to use with children.
During the session you will have the opportunity to discuss your progress with the teacher and feedback will be provided to allow you to further develop your skills. You will also be encouraged to provide course feedback to your teacher and take part in end of course evaluation.

You will be asked to assess some key skills at the beginning of the course and again at the end so you are able to clearly see the progress you have made.

All the course work will be completed within the session. The teacher will provide you with links to additional resources to help you to continue learning after the session.
This course can be accessed by all parents and carers with children in Year 1 in primary schools. The course will require learners to be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above. Learners will be required to complete a course enrolment form before proceeding with the course which they can either do online before the course if the venue have a link, or on the day of the course with the teacher.
This course is delivered Online– please check details before enrolling. You will be sent joining instructions through the email you have enrolled with. The teacher will support and guide the learners through the session so they are able to complete the learning activities.

Learning activities include:
· Listening carefully to safety instructions and teacher guidance
· Participation in practical activities 
· Links to recommended websites and apps will be given to aid independent learning
