On this course you will develop your knowledge and skills in reading, writing and speaking and listening. This will include:

- evaluating a text critically
- comparing writers' viewpoints and perspectives

Entry to the course is dependent on passing a screening assessment which takes place at interview prior to enrolment. No prior qualifications are necessary. The screening assessment is designed to give us an indication of your current literacy levels so that we can identify the best qualification route and class for you.
There is no formal coursework within this programme. You will be required to complete regular independent learning, in-class assessments and mock examinations. You will have 2 x final summative examinations which take place in May/June. You will also complete a Spoken Language endorsement.
There may be fees for this course if you have previously studied GCSE English and achieved a Grade 4 or C and above.
English and Maths are highly valuable gateway qualifications that can support you to progress into a wide range of further education courses and employment.
