Course Information
This session will raise awareness of different foods that are said to negatively impact on health. It incorporates the ‘Be Food Smart’ campaign from Change 4 Life. We will focus on identifying how much sugar, salt and saturated fat is hidden in the foods and drink we consume and how eating too much of these can negatively affect our health. You will spend time reflecting on your own diet and where you could make changes in relation to eating healthier and less of what’s bad for you.
At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

• Establish the amount of sugar, salt and saturated fat in a variety of foods and drinks and why too much sugar, salt and saturated fat is bad for the body.
• Research the recommended daily consumption amounts for sugar, saturated fat and salt.
• Consider alternative foods that are better for the body.
• Reflect on your own eating and drinking habits and identify areas for change.
• Choose appropriate progression opportunities.
Learners will attend a specific venue on a set day and time advertised. Learners will complete written learning activities as well as participating in any practical elements.
Learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above. You will also need a basic level of IT skills to be able to use online resources. If training or support is needed, please enquire about our free ICT courses.
Learners will be completing learning mats / handouts and an enrolment form. There may be digital platforms that learners can access to share ideas information.

• The teacher will use a range of activities to review learner’s knowledge during the course and identify any gaps and additional information required
• Learners will receive feedback in order to further develop their knowledge
• There will be opportunity for you to assess your knowledge at the start of the course and again at the end against the learning outcomes. This allows you to identify how much you have learnt and where you might need to do further study or research.
• You will also be supported to set an individual target for the course based on your personal goals and aspirations.
Learners may want to make notes on paper or a notepad if desired.

So that the course can start on time, it’s important to be punctual and arrive on time.
