The AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting is the ideal starting point for adults looking to launch a career in finance or develop solid accounting skills to support work or personal development. Whether you're returning to learning, aiming for a career change, or building confidence for future study, this nationally recognised qualification offers a clear, supportive pathway into the world of accounting. This course opens the door to a wide range of roles in finance and business. It is designed for learners of all backgrounds—no prior experience is required—and provides practical skills that employers value. You will develop confidence with numbers, financial processes, and digital accounting tools, giving you the foundation needed to progress to higher-level AAT qualifications and employment in the sector.
Throughout the course you will explore a range of core accounting subjects that build your competence and confidence, including:

· Introduction to Bookkeeping – understanding the fundamentals of double-entry bookkeeping.
· Principles of Bookkeeping Controls – learning about control accounts, reconciliations, and error correction.
· Principles of Costing – exploring basic costing techniques used in business.
· The Business Environment – understanding how finance fits into wider organisational structures and practices.
· Using Accounting Software – gaining hands-on experience with digital accounting systems used in industry
This course is delivered through a combination of:
· Classroom-based learning led by experienced AAT-qualified tutors.
· Practical workshops where you will apply accounting processes using real-life scenarios.
· Guided digital activities using industry-relevant software.

Learners must:
· Have a GCSE English and maths grade C/4 and above or, Level 2 Functional Skills English and maths
· Be comfortable using a computer.
· Have an interest in finance, business, or administration.
The course blends practical activities, real-life examples, and tutor-led teaching to build confidence at every stage
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor through:
· Practice tasks and activities completed in class.
· One-to-one guidance and progress reviews.
· Support to prepare for short, computer-based AAT assessments.
There are several online assessments throughout the qualification, taken under controlled conditions at our approved test centre. Your tutor will ensure you feel fully prepared and confident before each assessment.
All specialist software and learning resources will be provided.
Your tutor will give you guidance on study skills and digital platforms used during the course.
Costs will apply for:
AAT Registration (£186)
Assessment Fees Per Unit (£65 x 3) and Synoptic Fee (£70 x 1)
Standard Qualification Fee (£451)
