Course Information
During this short course, learners will explore the art of printmaking, including materials, processes and methods to create unique handcrafted prints using a range of styles and finishes. No previous experience is needed, just an open mind and a willingness to experiment and explore new ideas to create a diverse range of artwork.
By the end of the course learners will be able to:

Develop ideas for and produce work in 2 dimensions from a set theme Share views and ideas about their own work and the work of others.
Identify materials used for printmaking, how to use them and recognise different printmaking processes.
Experiment with a range of materials to develop a portfolio of prints using 2 or more printmaking techniques.
Contribute to group critiques and discussions around printmaking techniques.
The course will be delivered face to face in a community venue, or live online through Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

All practical activities will be demonstrated by the teacher and learners will be supported to complete them throughout the session.
Please be aware this is a hands-on course and you will be asked to take part in practical craft activities.
Other activities include: 
Active listening and reflective discussion   
Participation in practical art activities during and between sessions 
Personal reflection and note taking 
Links to recommended websites and apps will be given to aid independent learning

The course is 2.5 hours per week/session and is delivered over 2 weeks.
In order to attend the course, learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above.  

This course can be attended in a range of community venues or online via Microsoft teams or Zoom. If accessing online, learners will need a basic level of IT skills to be able to access the course and follow online instructions. The teacher will use a range of activities to review learner’s knowledge throughout the course and identify any gaps and additional information required  
Learners will receive feedback in order to further develop their knowledge   
Learners will assess their knowledge at the start of the course and again at the end against the learning outcomes. This allows you to identify how much you have learnt and where you might need to do further study or research.  
Learners will also be supported to set an individual target(s) for the course based on personal goals and aspirations. 
Discussion and sharing of your ideas and opinions is encouraged to support and develop one another’s learning journey.
The core materials for this course will be provided either at the session or sent to you in the post. Those enrolling on the last minute, please be aware you may not have your pack on time for the start of the course. It would be helpful if learners could also have to hand:

Pen
A piece of cardboard such as an old cardboard box
Recycled materials, such as used packaging, string, wool scraps, food wrapping.
Apron to protect clothes
Tray or box to take work home in.


In order for the course to start on time, it’s important to be ready to join your course 5 – 10 minutes prior to the official start time.
For all courses, it would be useful to have a pen and paper so you can make notes throughout the course.   
 The college has an Additional Learning Support Team who can support students with a variety of learning needs. If you have a diagnosed additional learning need, or feel you may need additional support in order to successfully complete this course, please speak to your course teacher upon enrolment.
