Course Information
This session focusses on learning about printmaking to produce paper based crafts for the festive season. Being creative boosts your health and wellbeing, provides cultural enrichment and a sense of purpose: You will learn how to plan and create a festive block print design and print paper based designs to gift and decorate your home over the festive period for a true homemade Christmas. No prior experience is necessary – just come along and enjoy this creative session.
By the end of the course you will be able to-

Share your views and ideas about your work and the work of others.

Identify materials used for printmaking.

Create 2 or more designs.

Contribute to group discussions, giving feedback to others and reflecting on your own progress and work created.

Reflect on and discuss how taking part in creative activities can benefit your wellbeing.
You will receive feedback from your tutor and peers on your individual outcomes for each topic within the course.

You will also develop your own analytical skills, enabling you to critique your own work and establish ways of moving forward as you move towards independent learning.

You will track your progress in your course booklet.
Course Work
You will be working on projects that can easily be extended beyond the guided learning hours. We also encourage personal research before and during the course to offer inspiration and context. Optional extra practice and research will support your progress, you may occasionally be provided with individually relevant reference points and links to extend your learning and support your personal projects.
It is important to note that this course is practical and requires a degree of manual dexterity for you to participate fully and get the most out of the session.

This programme is designed with beginners in mind and no prior experience is necessary, although some learners may have some previous informal learning experience within the overall curriculum area.
You will learn in a variety of ways:

You view demonstrations showing and prompting you in your explorations of different techniques and materials and encouraging you to share your outcomes and discuss your progress with your tutor and peers.

You will have access to handouts such as worksheets and prompt lists to encourage your analytical skills, encourage reflective practice and consolidate your learning.

You will be encouraged to share your work and your reflections so that you can help your peers learn and learn from them too.

You will gain 1:1 feedback, advice and inspiration from your tutor verbally in sessions.
What equipment will I need?



If you are studying online:

Scrap paper

Biro type pen or pencil

Sheet of polysytrene

Ink pad or printing ink

Blank greetings card



You will also need access to a computer with camera and microphone and internet access in order to join live demonstrations via zoom, and engage with your tutor and peers.



For Face to Face Opportunities:



Your tutor will arrive with basic materials for each session although you are welcome, Feel free to bring blank greetings cards, or gift tags of your choice to print on to as your tutor will have a limited amount per person.



Please consider how you will transport your artwork home.





The college has an Additional Learning Support Team who can support students with a variety of learning needs. If you have a diagnosed additional learning need or feel you may need additional support to successfully complete this course, please speak to your course teacher upon enrolment.

Your tutor will be available for feedback and Q&A at designated time slots throughout the duration of your course.
There is no direct progression from this course, however there are a range of creative wellbeing courses learners can access alongside other provision at Lancashire Adult learning. The course teacher will talk to learners about options and plan accordingly.
