Course Overview Description

Are you interested in working with children and considering a future career in childcare? Our Childcare Academy gives you the opportunity to explore a range of engaging, practical activities designed to develop your knowledge and skills. You will gain valuable experience that can support you during your work experience placement, while exploring important areas of childcare, including creative activities, supporting children with SEND and promoting healthy eating. The sessions are a great way to build your confidence and discover more about working with children.

What Will I Learn

You will develop practical skills and knowledge that can be applied to your work experience placement and future childcare studies. You will explore creative craft skills, learn about supporting children with SEND and discover how to promote healthy eating and wellbeing. Through a range of practical and interactive activities, you will develop your communication, teamwork and confidence, while gaining a better understanding of the skills and qualities needed to work effectively with children.

Fee and Waiver Information

Our courses are funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and the Lancashire Combined County Authority (LCCA).

In some circumstances, this funding allows us to offer courses at a reduced cost to learners who meet certain eligibility criteria. Below are the standard course fees for Lancashire residents and, where applicable, the reduced fees available to eligible learners.

To qualify for reduced fees, you may be required to complete a fee assessment and provide evidence to support your eligibility.

The standard fee for anyone living outside of the LCCA funded area (e.g. if your home address is in the Greater Manchester devolved funded area) is charged at £12.10 per hour, but may be higher for some courses.
