Course Information
The Level 3 Barbering Professional course provides the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to work as an employed and/or self-employed barber, combining a range of advanced technical skills. This qualification is ideal for those who already hold a Level 2 Barbering qualification or work in a commercial barbershop or salon. Building on existing barbering knowledge and expertise, it develops more advanced, detailed and enhanced professional skills
You’ll develop the advanced practical skills and professional knowledge needed to work as a barber. You’ll learn how to create a range of modern and classic cuts, fades and styling techniques, alongside facial hair design, shaving and finishing services. You’ll also develop your knowledge of hair and scalp care, client consultation, health and safety, and professional customer service, helping you build the confidence and skills needed for a successful career in the barbering industry.
We believe the best way to learn is by doing, and that’s exactly how we’ll help you become a brilliant barber! This course is all about hands-on, practical experience, so you’ll spend most of your time in our fantastic, purpose-built salon. It looks and feels just like a professional barbershop, with all the latest industry-standard equipment you’ll need to perfect your craft. You’ll be working on real clients, building your confidence and skills from day one!

Our expert tutors, who have amazing industry experience, will be there to guide and support you every step of the way. They’ll share their inside knowledge through live demonstrations, one-to-one guidance, and group workshops. We’re here to help you turn your passion into a set of professional skills. We’ll make sure you get plenty of practice time to master everything from fades to beard trims, all within a fun, supportive, and creative environment. We are committed to helping you succeed and will give you all the tools you need to smash your goals
5 GCSE passes at a minimum of Grade 4, which must include a Grade 3 and 4 in English Language and Maths, in either combination.*
You will also need to have completed your Level 2 Programme in barbering.
We know you want to see how much you’ve learned, and our assessment process is designed to help you shine! We focus on checking your skills in a practical, real-world way, so you can feel confident and ready for your career. You’ll get to show off your amazing talents through hands-on practical observations. This is your chance to perform services on real clients in our salon while your expert tutor supports you and assesses your fantastic work.

We’ll also help you build a brilliant portfolio. Think of this as your professional scrapbook, showcasing all your best cuts, styles, and shaves through photos and client feedback. It’s something you can be really proud of and even show to future employers! There will also be some short written assignments and oral questions to check your understanding of the theory behind the practice, like health and safety. We’re here to support you every step of the way, making sure you feel prepared and ready to show us what you can do. We believe in you, and we’ll help you smash it.

Our courses are funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and the Lancashire Combined County Authority (LCCA).

In some circumstances, this funding allows us to offer courses at a reduced cost to learners who meet certain eligibility criteria. Below are the standard course fees for Lancashire residents and, where applicable, the reduced fees available to eligible learners.

To qualify for reduced fees, you may be required to complete a fee assessment and provide evidence to support your eligibility.

Text Value

The standard fee for anyone living outside of the LCCA funded area (e.g. if your home address is in the Greater Manchester devolved funded area) is charged at £12.10 per hour, but may be higher for some courses.
